All-Bran Health Loaf

This is a great healthy, low-fat and TASTY recipe. I highly recommend it for a healthy snack - especially if you're trying to lose weight. It also freezes well and is a great school snack idea.

My Mum has had this recipe for a rather long time. I think the recipe originated from an All-Bran packet.


All-Bran Health Loaf

1/2 cup raw sugar
1 cup All-Bran Original
1 cup sultanas (or dried fruit of your choice)
1 cup milk
1 cup wholemeal self-raising flour
pinch salt

  1. Combine sugar, All-Bran, sultanas and milk. Cover and allow to stand for half an hour or more. (I tend to refrigerate mine overnight).
  2. Add four and salt. Combine well.
  3. Pour into a greased loaf tin. Bake in a moderate oven (180C) for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.

Note: Also makes nice muffins. If cooking muffins, reduce cooking time accordingly.
