Virtually Be Quilted - My Turn!

June was my month to send fabric out to the Virtually Be Quilted participants. I asked the participants to make a star block out of the fabric provided. (Additional fabric could be added if desired). The blocks that I receive back will be combined with some 'setting blocks', which I will create, and will be turned into a quilt for Ruby.

Ruby's quilt will be based on the Star Quilt Along that was run by AmandaJean from Crazy Mom Quilts. The star blocks will be different to those used by AmandaJean, however I will use the same pattern for the 'setting blocks', which provide the diagonal lines in the quilt.

The colour scheme is pink and purple on a white background. I have been collecting fabrics for this quilt for about a year. I had around 12 fat quarters, which I turned into fat eights. Each person received two coloured fabrics and some white material for the background.
And here are the beautiful blocks that I have already received. I love them!

Meet Mr Bluejeans...

My first adult-sized knitting project. I am delighted!! :) I've learnt a lot while I've been making it ... including how to fix an error in my cabling which was about 10cm below my knitting needles. The tutorial that I was directed to is hilarious!

The pattern was a free pattern from Knitty: Mr Greenjeans. It has taken around 6 weeks of solid evening knitting to complete.

If you want to read a blow-by-blow of its creation, you'll find it here.
